I am an Instagram home stalker. I’m also that person that stares at everything else in a picture, than what the picture is actually of. But that’s besides the point. I ran across a hashtag #oneroomchallenge. I’m always wanting to do things with our house. We have lived in our house for 6 years now, and it’s just now starting to become our style. Whenever I do a home, everyone always wants to know what my house looks like. My style used to be very rustic. I have grown away from that for the past couple of years. I decided to finally do our living room over to reflect my own style. Our house has amazing architecture, and I love to make it a statement.
The living room used to be orange. We loved the color, but felt it was time for a change, it needed to be repainted. Think, old house, lath and plaster, and 20-year-old painted walls, water stains, etc. Fresh is good. We have these amazing windows that I wanted to highlight. I knew that I wanted the room white, and I wanted to put some eyeliner on the windows. This is just the pop it needed. I also decided to paint the beams black for additional pop. I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out.
The artwork that looks like a million bucks on the walls, my kids did. How amazing is that? I bought the frames at IKEA, and used 3 different size brushes. I made it a game. They each had to make a line, a circle, triangle, 3 dots, etc. They also had to put their first initial in them. There’s an M and H, can you find them?
The fireplace, we decided to cover in pine and stain it with 3 different stains. If you look close, you can see that we actually haven’t finished the edges of the mantle. They need to be notched out, and I’m impatient and wanted to get this blog done 🙂 Overall, the look came together 100% perfect and an exact mirror of my style.
