When we first looked at our house 7 years ago, we walked into the foyer from the front door. We instantly were in love. This was the home for us. When we moved in, there was a painting technique that was absolutely beautiful on the walls. But, it wasn’t us. But, I wasn’t about to paint the 18 foot staircase, foyer and hallway that all blended together. Now that I have done it 7 years later, I’m glad I didn’t do it back then. It was a full week project. And that trim, oh vey. I knew that I wanted to continue the black and white flow I had going on. I added a colored rug and a simple frame with a saying that I painted, changed the chandelier out for a more updated one and added prints of the girls I took, into the hallway.
The half bath is right off of the hallway and is the only bath downstairs, so it gets used more than the other two upstairs. Everyone sees it. It was all brown, dark and dreary. It had a weird little ledge off of the built-in cabinet and a tile countertop. I was way over it. One day I decided it was time to pull that ledge off. I had my husband take it down, and it left a huge hole in the wall. So I left it. For about, oh, 3 months. Life got in the way, I guess. We finally got around to finishing it and I couldn’t be happier with the finished product. I knew that I wanted to have a sliding door. It just made sense. The door used to hit the toilet when it opened.
