2 years! Well, almost 2 years. That’s the last time I wrote a blog! Since my business became more commercial than residential, I haven’t been blogging much. I decided to get back into the swing of things. What better way to do it than with the One Room Challenge! The last time I did it, was years ago. My living room is completely different from that now! Well, pretty much my whole house.
My favorite room in my home, is my dining room. It hasn’t been changed since we moved in. I painted the bottom half under the chair rail a green color when we first moved in. Later, I changed it to black. It’s always been the room where leftover furniture goes. Plants always end up there because of the light that comes in. In the past couple of years, I’ve started a ‘color story’ in my home. I chose 4 colors to prominently pull through my house.
The colors are: blue, green, yellow and pink. To be more specific — slate blue, army green, mustard and dusty rose. It doesn’t have to be those exact colors, but a variation of them. For the dining room, I already had the pink in the curtains and the rug. Technically, the green in the plants. I just needed the mustard and blue. The other part of this whole operation was this: I wanted to spend as little as possible on this challenge. My plan is to sell what’s presently in there. I’ll include some random home decor I’ve had that I don’t use. I’ll use the proceeds to buy everything I will need.
My inspiration was this room by Emily Henderson. Once I saw this, I knew I wanted to color drench the room (minus the ceiling.)

I also want to bring my round table back into the space. The rectangle table we had made the space feel smaller. I want to bring upholstered chairs (possibly 5 instead of my usual 4), new lighting and new cabinets. Keeping in mind of my color story. Here are my first thoughts and moodboard:

These are the before pictures — and yes, the room was beautiful to start with. I just needed a change after 14 years. But let’s start with the listing and before photos to see how far we’ve come.

And the beautiful pictures that Jordan took of our home:

I’m ready to start and excited to see everyone’s spaces and projects during the One Room Challenge! See you next week.
