Quite the difference, eh? We are a family that spends most of our time in the kitchen. It only made sense to make in an open concept. We had a wet bar on the other side of the kitchen that just became a catch all. By eliminating that, we were able to push back the kitchen 2 feet. Those 2 feet made a world of difference for us. It gave us the ability to open up the entrance to the kitchen completely. We got all of the appliances from our local appliance store, and went through our local home store to get everything else. I white washed all of the timbers because I felt there was going to be a lot of wood going on in there. I LOVE how they turned out. Everything else came together and we couldn’t be happier.

This week: I didn’t wake up a plant whisperer—it took trial, error, and a few crunchy leaves.
Forget the calendar. I check the soil (with a meter or, you know, my finger). Some plants like it dry, some want moisture—none care that it’s Tuesday.
Want a green thumb? Start listening to your plants. They’re dramatic, but honest. 💧✨
P.S. One of these is fake. Can you guess which?

Sunday House Call: A Mother’s Day Edition
This week’s question: What’s something your mom always did in her home—good or bad—that stuck with you?
Mine? Fake fruit, apples on everything, and an unusual devotion to birdhouses.
My kids? They say it’s “artwork and disco balls”… which honestly feels like a win.
Your turn—what did you grow up with that still lives rent-free in your home (or your nightmares)?

Never underestimate the power of a pop of mustard. It’s like sunshine, but sassier.

Tuesday Tips Nobody Asked For: Styling Gallery Walls

Because nothing says “I have my life together” like a curated wall of chaos. I mix things like my kids doodles, a vintage photo of my grandma, the quote “normal people are so weird,” and my late pup’s collar tags—sentimental but make it stylish. Art is personal, and perfection is overrated. Here’s how I make a gallery wall feel like home (and mildly unhinged in the best way).

🛎️ Sunday House Call: Fireplace Edition

Back when we bought this house, we were deep in our barnwood era (weren’t we all?). So naturally, the fireplace got the full rustic treatment. Fast-forward to now, and let’s just say... I’m ready for a little less farm, a little more fresh.

I’m finally gearing up to give it a makeover, but I need your help. Should I just paint it and call it a day? Or do we go bold with vertical slats and give it a whole new vibe?

Drop your opinions, bold ideas, or gentle roasts below—this is a judgment-free renovation zone. Mostly. 📸 @jordanlexuscostello

Week 5 of the One Room Challenge and the dining room plants are thriving—unlike my patience. At least someone’s photosynthesizing around here. 🌿 #oneroomchallenge #orcweek5 #orcat
