ava + molly’s room reveal

If you remember, not too long ago, I did an ‘in the home of | jennifer cole‘ — if you don’t remember, check it out. Jen approached me about doing her daughters rooms. Molly is 14, and Ava is 8. They wanted totally different looks, and I was excited for that. Molly wanted a more ‘edgy glamour’ look and Ava wanted a very modern feel. Molly’s room was just going to be a change in look, but Ava was moving to a whole new room. I came to Jen’s house and went over everything with the girls to see what their vision was.

Jen went with the Restoration Collection. I created mood boards for the girls, and they both approved. So I got to work. Ava is a good friend of my daughter, Maddie. I knew that I was going to do most of the paintings going in both rooms, so I asked Maddie to make one for Ava. It turned out absolutely darling, a cat and a peace sign. I pulled in cat decals into the room for a modern and cool feel. Her bedding complements her personality. That girl is seriously a riot. She’s bold and entertaining, and so is the bedding I picked out for her. I wanted to make it functional for her shopkin play and bracelet making. I turned an old printer drawer into a neat little home for her shopkins. As for Molly’s room, I wanted to make a more grown up feel for her. Molly is a cool girl. She loves Billy Idol at 14. A girl after my own heart. My favorite thing I painted for her, was a sign that says “wake up, kick ass, repeat.” This is basically her. She rocks. I took her old desk and a chair from the garage and turned it edgy glamour by painting the drawer gold and accenting the chair details gold. I did a little thrifting in town and scored a mirror for above her new vanity, and a lamp that I painted the base gold, and the shade black. I am so glad both of these girls loved their rooms, it makes it all worth it.
